Our client, one of the leading health care providers in Northern California, seeks a Counsel to assist the Senior Vice President & General Counsel, other more senior attorneys, and members of management by providing legal advice and counsel on a range of topics within their general practice area.  This includes: performing legal research, identifying new or emerging areas of risk, and managing or providing support on specific legal projects.  The Counsel role is responsible for developing new policies and procedures, and providing updates and advice on existing Affiliate / Region and System-wide policies.  The position is based in Sacramento, California.

 Experience:

Must have demonstrated at least 3-5 years of significant business and/or healthcare law experience, including, primary and independent responsibility for significant transactions. Must have 3 years experience of advising health care clients preferably including hospitals, medical foundations and/or physician organizations. Extensive knowlegde of health care laws including Stark, Anti-kickback, False Claims Act and familiarity with licensure, certification and accreditation requirements is essential.

Special Skills:

Candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to translate legal complexities into terms readily understood by management and line personnel. Must have demonstrated initiative and an ability to work in a fast paced complex matrixed managed organization. Must be able to demonstrate strong client management and project management skills as well as the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team.
