Our client, a publicly traded and leading consulting firm, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist the Company in its search for General Counsel. This legal executive will report to the CEO and will be a key member of the leadership team. As the company’s first Vice President, General Counsel, she/he will have an opportunity to build upon and shape the core legal strategy and risk management processes in a growth-oriented, market leading professional services firm. The ideal candidate has significant leadership experience in a legal/risk management organization.  Professional services industry experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a strategic advisor in areas of the law, regulations, and risk management as a member of the Company’s leadership team, providing advice on a broad range of issues in support of the Company’s mission and vision
  • Management of in-house legal, compliance and risk functions across multiple domestic and international jurisdictions, including contracts, engagement vetting including conflict assessment, discovery, claims and litigation, employment law, trademarks, leases, mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, privacy, licensing, registrations, and insurance
  • Collaborating with Human Resources, Finance, and Environmental Health & Safety on employee relations and compliance issues
  • Developing strategy for and managing outside counsel relationships in support of the legal needs of the company
  • Anticipating and identifying legal issues and risks to the company
  • Working as a member of the senior leadership team to develop legal strategies and mutually agreeable, practical solutions that balance risk with the needs of the business
  • Building upon and improving the company’s core legal and risk management processes and training, including conflict management, engagement vetting, and contracting.
  • Keeping informed of changes in laws and regulations that impact the business
  • Implementing policies and procedures to minimize or manage operational risks.
